Our Bigfastcar conversion kit makes it easy to put a T56 six speed manual transmission in your 1994 – 1996 Impala SS (see additional applications below). Our integrated clutch and brake pedal assembly fits right in place of your brake pedal assembly, and works with the Tilton Series 78 master cylinder. To get you up and running quickly we offer a hydraulics package with all the parts you need to connect to your hydraulic release bearing or slave cylinder. Our transmission crossmember accommodates either the first generation T56 or the current T56 Magnum. And our center console pieces complete the interior of your car, providing a factory look with a leather shift boot.
Our complete kit is priced at $2,325. If you don’t have an Impala SS center console, the price is $2,125. Pedal assemblies are available alone for $949. Further pricing and package details are below.
Our pedal and crossmember have undergone finite element analysis (FEA), whereby professional engineers simulate real world and worst case scenarios on pressures and loads in order to identify weak points. We design our products to withstand extreme forces, and we test our parts on the track. We proudly design and manufacture everything in the USA.
To complete your conversion, we have two recommended packages, and we are happy to customize a package for your needs.
Our kit works with the stock LT1 engine as well as the LS engine family and we have engineered packages to make it easy to install your 6 speed behind the engine of your choice.

Choosing a package
The biggest factor in completing the installation is your choice of T56. The ’94 – ’97 Camaro / Firebird / Trans Am (F-Body) T56 is a great choice if you’re running the LT1 engine as they pair very easily. With its 2.66 first gear it is rated to handle 450 lb/ft of torque, and it works perfectly with 4.10 rear gears. However, these transmissions are not available new, and rebuild parts are no longer manufactured by Tremec. If you can find a good used example we suggest our Bigfastcar Basic Package, as it includes everything you need except the T56 transmission and bellhousing.
If you prefer to go with a new transmission, the T56 Magnum offers many improvements over the ’94 – ’97 F-Body T56, including greater torque capacity and smoother shifts. We sell brand new T56 Magnums for $3,050, rated to handle 700 lb/ft of torque, and with a 12 month warranty. The T56 Magnum is designed to work with the LS engine family, so if you have swapped in an LS engine this becomes an even easier choice. With the LT1 engine, a particular bellhousing and flywheel are required, and this increases the overall cost. With its 2.66 first gear, it works best with 4.10 rear gears. To get a T56 Magnum in your car, we recommend our Bigfastcar Magnum Package, which includes a brand new T56 Magnum transmission and a McLeod Super Street clutch.
History
15 years ago, we introduced our Impala SS six-speed conversion kit under the name B-Body High Performance, Inc. (BBHP) and sold 167 conversion kits, and we’re excited to be launching our second-generation kit under our new name: Three Pedals. Our old website is www.bigfastcar.com.
Building on the success of our first-generation kit, we have developed a patent pending integrated clutch and brake pedal assembly which is a direct bolt-in, replacing your factory brake pedal. Improvements over our first design include cruise control interrupt via the clutch pedal, improved pedal ergonomics, ability to work with a universal master cylinder, and crossmember and console compatibility with the T56 Magnum transmission.
We’ve earned a reputation for high quality parts designed to look and feel like they came from the factory, and our second-generation kit is even better! We think you’ll agree that it’s pretty slick.
Applications
This fits the 1994 – 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS, so we often call it our Impala kit, but it also fits all 1991 – 1996 GM B- and D-body vehicles – including station wagons! – with the full list of applications below.
- 1994 – 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS
- 1991 – 1996 Chevrolet Caprice – sedan and wagon
- 1991 – 1996 Buick Roadmaster – sedan and wagon
- 1991 – 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser
- 1991 – 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood
Details
Our Bigfastcar Impala pedal assembly is designed to fit perfectly and has been tested to ensure that it will take a beating with no fuss and no maintenance. Here are some of our design details. All of our parts are designed and manufactured in the USA.
Our pedal assembly is made of laser cut, TIG welded steel. The pedal arms are made from A656 high strength steel for superior strength and durability.
Layout
The clutch pedal and brake pedal are perfectly aligned. Pedal spacing is 5.25″, same as a late model F-Body, and is positioned relative to the gas pedal for easy heel and toe downshifting.
Master Cylinder
Our pedal is designed to work with both universal master cylinders, for example Wilwood and Tilton, as well as the factory F-Body LT1 master cylinder.
To use the factory F-Body master cylinder we can supply an adapter at extra cost. Shown below is our 3D printed adapter; the production version is CNC machined billet aluminum.
Bushings
The pedals rotate on a 5/8? diameter grade 8 high strength steel shoulder bolt, utilizing oil impregnated bronze bushings. Between the bushings and the pedal bracket we use Delrin (acetal resin) washers to reduce friction. Together, these parts ensure a long maintenance-free life with smooth operation throughout.
In comparison to the factory F-Body setup, we use the same diameter bolt (5/8?) upon which the pedals rotate. However, our oil impregnated bronze bushings provide superior feel and durability as compared to the F-Body bushings, shown below in black.
Adjustable travel
Aftermarket master cylinders may require less travel than the factory F-Body master cylinder so we have designed in an adjustable clutch pedal stop, capped with a plastic cover.
Electrical
The complete pedal assembly contains provisions for four electric connections:
1 – Brake lights (reuses stock wiring)
2 – Cruise control interrupt, based on brake pedal application (reuses stock wiring)
3 – Cruise control interrupt, based on clutch pedal application (included with kit)
4 – Neutral safety switch, preventing the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is depressed (included with kit)
Crossmember
Our crossmember is designed to work with both the LT1 T56 and the T56 Magnum. It is significantly strengthened over our previous design. The tubular portion is formed from 4130 chromoly steel for superior strength, and the end plates are formed from 5/16? steel.
Console
We offer center console inserts for the Impala SS, with separate versions for the ’94 – ’95 Impala and the ’96 Impala. The ’94 – ’95 piece is shown below. The bottom of the cupholder has provisions for 2 screws that use the factory mount holes.
