A tough front bumper can really make the look of a 4×4. Along with the great looks, you get the option of adding killer accessories like a winch, off road driving lights, a jack, or anything else you might need for your excursions. Plus, let’s be real – you also get the confidence that whoever parallel parks in front of you is no longer a threat.
This 2017 Jeep is an Unlimited Rubicon Recon edition and is pristine. Though the Recon edition does have a winch-ready front bumper, the owner wanted a tougher bumper, and ARB’s Deluxe Bull Bar front bumper is one of the best out there. We installed this bumper (part #3450230) and did some custom fabrication to retain the original Jeep fog lights, just as the owner requested.
We love custom fabrication in case you didn’t know. In this case, the fog light mounting brackets that came with the ARB bumper needed to be modified. The Recon edition has different fog lights, and though the lens diameter doesn’t change, the body of the lights are fatter. As a result they do not fit the ARB-supplied brackets – the regular Jeep fog lights fit perfectly of course. To reconcile this fitment issue, we clearanced both brackets (one per side) to accommodate the fatter lights and welded on new mounting studs. With the fab finalized we protected the pieces with fresh paint. Once in place you’d never know we did all that work – but that’s OK, we know.
ARB’s bumpers are air bag compatible and include an engineered mounting system which give you increased protection. This particular bumper allows up to 37″ tires, so is perfect if you plan to lift your Jeep. The bumper has a textured black powder coat finish for a durable finish that matches perfect with the Jeep’s front fenders.
