Our integrated clutch and brake pedal assembly is the key to getting a manual transmission up and running in your 1978 – 1988 GM G-Body. And because we tried, this pedal assembly also fits the 1977 – 1990 GM B-Body.
We just installed the first assembly in the Car Craft Malibu! We put the CC/Malibu to the test at the Car Craft Summer Nationals July 20-21 and will be posting videos and pictures shortly.
Complete pedal assemblies will ship in late February or early March 2019.
Note: Aluminum bracket will be black anodized, not natural as pictured on prototype; prototype pedal arms are pictured, production ones will be cleaner! And powder coated semi-gloss black. Our pedal assembly is a direct replacement for your stock brake pedal and is compatible with all hydraulic clutch systems. Along with the proper transmission crossmember, sold separately or as a complete package with the pedal assembly and other parts, we can get you up and running with a manual transmission. A list of compatible transmissions is below. In addition to selling the pedal assembly as listed here, we offer every other part you may need for the conversion as well as money-saving packages. We offer installation at our shop in Sterling, Virginia, or we can ship your parts anywhere in the world. We torture test our pedals on the track to ensure they will take a beating with no fuss and no maintenance. And we’re big on ergonomics – the pedals are right where your feet are expecting them, and the brake pedal location is optimized for heel-and-toe downshifting. After driving a 1996 Chevy Impala SS with our 6 speed manual conversion package, AutoWeek Magazine wrote: “The pedals and shifter feel and look as though they could have been a factory installation” – May 15, 2017 issue. We design and manufacture our parts for serious enthusiasts who enjoy the details that make the difference. Each pedal assembly comes fully assembled and ready to install and includes:
- Billet aluminum mounting bracket, anodized black
- Chromoly steel brake pedal arm
- Steel clutch pedal arm
- Rubber pedal covers, OEM 2010 – 2015 Chevy Camaro
- Heavy duty Oilite flanged bushings for each pedal arm
- Oilite sleeves at all points where shoulder bolts pass through aluminum
- Delrin spacers for quiet, smooth, no-rock pedal arm operation
- Steel shoulder bolts, Grade 8 strength
- Rubber firewall seal and stainless steel hardware
- Firewall drilling template
- Pedal installation hardware: Class 10.9 / Grade 8 strength or better
Clutch and brake pedals are spaced apart just under 5″ center-to-center, same as the current Chevy Camaro. Your factory brake master cylinder pushrod hooks up to our brake pedal arm in the exact same location as stock. We offer compatibility with both power and manual brakes. Our clutch pedal is designed for hydraulic clutch systems and is compatible with just about any manual transmission. Whether you’re running the stock engine or an LS engine our pedals will work great. We use the Tilton 78-Series master cylinders, available in seven different bore sizes. Contact us for help in selecting the perfect match for your setup. As part of our final assembly, we verify that each pedal arm rotates freely, yet doesn’t rock side-to-side. We press a pair of Oilite oil impregnated bronze bushings into each pedal arm, and the bushings rotate on a 5/8″ diameter Grade 8 high strength steel shoulder bolt. Between the bushings and the pedal bracket we use Delrin (acetal resin) washers to minimize rotating friction. Together, these parts ensure a long and maintenance-free life with smooth operation throughout. Our pedal assembly contains provisions for four electric connections, all OEM GM spec and available separately if not already wired up in your car: 1 – Brake lights – bracket included with our pedals, reuse stock wiring 2 – Cruise control interrupt, based on brake pedal application – optional bracket, reuse stock wiring 3 – Cruise control interrupt, based on clutch pedal application – optional bracket, sensor, and wiring harness 4 – Neutral safety switch, preventing the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is depressed – bracket included with our pedals, sensor and wiring harness sold separately To install our pedals you’ll need to drill several holes in your firewall, and we include a cutting template to make marking the hole centers as easy as possible. Billet aluminum pedal covers will be available shortly. If converting an existing transmission you may need a different bellhousing in order to run our pedal assembly to allow for the hydraulic clutch. Mechanical linkage setups are not compatible with our pedals.
